How is a carbon fibre part made?

It starts with a model of the intended shape. From that a mould is made, the negative in which the part grows. Fibre layers are laid into that mould, each in its own direction, because the strength lies along the fibre. Resin is then added and the whole is cured. Finally the part is released, trimmed and finished. Every step decides the result: the mould the shape, the fibre direction the strength, the cure the dimensional stability.
